Position: Contracted Professional Electrical Engineer Manager

Job Summary: Managerial and technical Electrical Engineering support for electrical distribution
infrastructure and heavy industrial plant maintenance, repair, renovation and replacement activities
and projects; developing and assigning work tasks to project teams; and monitoring team
performance to ensure quality while meeting schedule and budget requirements;

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Prioritizes and recommends projects to reduce risk associated with system failures
• Develops cost estimates for proposed work
• Manages projects assigned by S&WBNO utilizing S&WBNO staff and approved outside
• Supports and leads project teams
• Develops a project plan for each project and effectively communicates the plan to each team
• Ensures plans and specifications meet overall project team requirements for project scope,
budget and schedule
• Takes appropriate action to stay on schedule and within budget, and reports results to
appropriate S&WBNO staff
• Serves as the lead technical advisor for defining and solving electrical engineering issues
• Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to problem
solving and design
• Develops, reviews and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Provides training and conducts SOP exercises
• Maintains and organizes project related documents
• Reviews project designs prepared by others to ensure that they are properly designed in
accordance with acceptable engineering standards, code compliant, constructible, meet
project goals with minimum adverse impact to the public and S&WBNO customers.
• Manages field inspection of the S&WBNO electrical power distribution infrastructure and
develops priorities and recommendations for repair and rehabilitation.
• Provides technical support to S&WBNO Facilities Maintenance, Central Control, Drainage,
Sewerage, Water Purification, Power Generation and other S&WBNO departments
• Works closely with other professionals including Engineers, Architects, Designers and Project
Mangers as a key team player and integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team

• Promotes mentor/mentee relationships through the engagement of both junior and senior
S&WBNO staff
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school
• Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus 15 years of
professional engineering experience, four years of which must have been at the supervisory
level or above. A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices involving both 25Hz and 60Hz
electrical power systems and components, and the ability to apply this knowledge to complex
and diverse capital and major maintenance projects and programs
• Knowledge of electrical system design, including but not limited to medium and low voltage
electrical switchgear; emergency power systems (including generator and UPS); application of
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC); power monitoring system and SCADA, power system
automation, protection and relaying; motor control centers (MCC); power distribution; lighting;
fire alarm system; security systems and computer networks.
• Familiarity (or ability to quickly become so) with applicable building codes and standards
including City of New Orleans Electrical Code, NEC, NFPA, and IEEE Standards
• Thorough working knowledge of relevant engineering software
