Position: Contracted Professional Civil Engineer Manager

Job Summary: Managerial and technical engineering support for planning, design, project
development and project management of projects related to water treatment, water distribution,
wastewater collection, storm water drainage, building construction and site development; developing
and assigning work tasks to project teams; and monitoring team performance to ensure quality while
meeting schedule and budget requirements. Designs water, wastewater, and storm water drainage
infrastructure projects.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Serves as a technical advisor for defining and solving engineering issues related municipal
water, sewer and drainage utilities;
• Develops cost estimates for proposed work;
• Manages projects assigned by S&WBNO utilizing S&WBNO staff and approved outside
• Supports and leads project teams under the supervision of senior S&WBNO Engineering staff;

• Develops a project plan for assigned projects and effectively communicates the plans to each
team member;
• Ensures plans and specifications meet overall project team requirements for project scope,
budget and schedule;
• Takes appropriate action to stay on schedule and within budget, and reports results to
appropriate S&WBNO staff;
• Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to problem
solving and design;
• Maintains and organizes project related documents;
• Reviews project designs prepared by others to ensure that they are properly designed in
accordance with acceptable engineering standards, code compliant, constructible, and meet
project goals with minimum adverse impact to the public and S&WBNO customers;
• Provides technical and managerial support to S&WBNO Facilities Maintenance, Central
Control, Drainage, Sewerage, Water Purification, Power Generation and other S&WBNO
• Works closely with other professionals including Engineers, Architects, Designers and Project
Mangers as a key team player and integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team
• Promotes mentor/mentee relationships through the engagement of both junior and senior
S&WBNO staff;
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering school
• Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus six years
of professional engineering experience. A master's degree in engineering will substitute for
one year of the required experience;
• Experience in design and project management related to municipal utility infrastructure;;
• Experience in managing operation and maintenance activities preferable;
• Working knowledge of applicable local and national codes and common Civil Engineering
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects of varying complexity, size
and scope.
