Journeyman Commercial / Residential / Industrial Plumbers needed.
A 1st Class Commercial / Residential / Industrial Plumber assembles, installs and repairs plumbing systems; installs these systems according to specifications and appropriate trade and building codes. These systems may consist of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems.
Studies specifications, building plans and show drawings to determine work aids required and the appropriate sequence of installation.
Inspects the structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent the weakening of the structure resulting from the installation of pipe.
Locates and marks the position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using ruler, level and plumb bob.
Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand and power tools.
Digs, backfills and tamps ditches using shovels, picks and tampers; cut, ream and solder copper tubing/piping, braze, solvent weld, fuser groove and thread pipe using pipe cutters, reamers, torches, alloy, gaskets, solvent cements, fusing machines, grove and pipe-threading machines.
Assembles and installs valves, pipe and fittings composed of metals, e.g. iron, steel, copper, brass, lead and non-metals, e.g., glass, vitrified clay and plastic using hand tools and power tools.
Joins pipe using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, solvent and caulk joints.
Fills pipe systems with water or air and reads gauges to determine system leak.
Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, urinals, water heaters, water softeners and others.
